Hi Lionel,
Always enjoy learning from your insights!
I also wonder it is because, people not only think that the word competes with action, but also many seem to think that the word only gives information about God and Christian living, but NOT Relationship with God himself in His Word.
So, the logic goes on like:
We receive the information we need to learn about the gospel and gospel living from the word, but unless we also work on our action/obedience through Spirit empowered living, studying Bible is useless.
What do you think?
Do you think this misunderstanding of our perception in seeing Word vs Action derives from a deeper problem of not properly understanding the nature of Scripture?
So, Lionel, you’re suggesting we should listen more to the King?
Hi Hank, that’s very true. The word is the sword of the Spirit. God’s word and his Spirit go together, and we’ll always end up in trouble if we separate the two.
Anthony, indeed: “You think that I don’t even mean / A single word I say / It’s only words and words are all I have / To steal your heart away”
G’day Lionel,
I know someone who’d really love some insightful comments regarding Elvis’ disciple, Harry Webb.
Amen!!
